Halepa: Cosmopolitan Life and Industry
Join us on a walk through Halepa, one of Chania’s most distinctive neighborhoods, where industry, diplomacy, architecture, and everyday life come together in a unique historical landscape. Starting in the old Tabakaria district, the route passes by consulates, schools, villas, churches, and other landmarks that reveal the many layers of Halepa’s past.
Along the way, we share stories of the people, buildings, and events that shaped the area, from its industrial heritage to its cosmopolitan identity. The tour also includes oral testimonies and material from interviews, adding personal memories and lived experience to the history of the neighborhood.
This is an opportunity to discover Halepa through its streets, its buildings, and its voices, and to experience a part of Chania where local memory and urban history remain deeply connected.
