Our Story

Cultural Memory was founded by a team of historians, cultural managers, programmers and tourism professionals who share a deep commitment to the documentation and dissemination of local history. The cooperative grew out of long-standing collaborations around community heritage initiatives, oral history projects, and local museum development.

We operate as a democratic, member-driven cooperative, reinvesting surplus into our social and cultural mission — ensuring transparency, sustainability, and community benefit. Our financial practices follow cooperative principles, prioritizing fair employment, ethical partnerships, and collective reinvestment in cultural projects.

  • Offer public history consulting and educational resources for communities wishing to document and share their own histories.
  • Develop memorial walks and excursions that invite participants to explore historical landscapes through stories, photographs, and archival materials.
  • Promote publications and multimedia projects that make cultural knowledge accessible to all.

Expected Impact

Through our work, Cultural Memory seeks to:

  • Empower local communities to take ownership of their cultural narratives.
  • Enhance cultural tourism by offering authentic, research-based experiences rooted in history.
  • Preserve intangible heritage, from oral traditions to collective memories of the 20th century.
  • Build bridges between generations, fostering understanding and pride in local identity.
  • Contribute to social cohesion and inclusion, making culture a shared space of dialogue and participation.
