On December 6–7, 2025, Cultural Memory took part in HackSocial Crete 2025, held at the Heraklion Municipality Multicenter, as part of an initiative by the Region of Crete and PANETAIK S.A., dedicated to social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
Our participation in this event was a valuable experience of creative work, exchange of knowledge, and dialogue with people and organizations active in the field of social economy across Crete. During the program, we worked on our project concerning the Martyred Villages of Eastern Selino and the Historical–War Museum of Sougia, making full use of the guidance provided by the Dock support team, as well as the constructive feedback we received throughout the two-day event.
It was equally important for us to meet other Social Cooperative Enterprises from across Crete, exchange ideas, experiences, and perspectives, and explore possibilities for future collaboration. Encounters like these strengthen our belief that the social economy can serve as a field of meaningful cooperation, local empowerment, and collective creativity.
We were especially pleased that the presentation of our first initiative was awarded second prize in the competition. This distinction is an important recognition for our work and, at the same time, a strong encouragement to continue our efforts with dedication and consistency in the fields of collective memory, local history, and the promotion of places of significant historical and social importance.
We warmly thank the organizers, the support team, and everyone who took part in HackSocial Crete 2025 and contributed to making it a meaningful, creative, and inspiring two-day event.
For Cultural Memory, participations such as this are not only opportunities for visibility, but also important steps in learning, networking, and further developing our work.
